The Human Body must have a balanced supply of high quality Proteins, Carbohydrates, Fatty Acids, vitamins, minerals, Fiber, and Water in order to express full Health. In this American culture it is usually true that the diet is unbalanced in the following ways: 1) Deficiency of, or lack of Omega 3 (flax oil/fish oil) and Omega 9(olive oil) fatty acids, omega 6 fats in excess, saturated fat in excess (20-25 g/day max), presence of trans fats (partially hydrogenated or hydrogenated fatty acids). 2) Less than 30-40 grams of fiber per day (from multiple sources) 3) Excessive carbohydrates (sugars) without fiber or with low fiber. 4) Heavy metal and chemical toxification occurs to all people in the modern world from things such as car exhaust, pest control, chemicals in water supply and air, immunizations, dental fillings, industrial pollution, processed foods, and many other sources. The effect of these toxins is to suppress normal health causing reduced immunity, chronic fatigue, allergies and sinus problems, reduced benefit from healthy foods, and inability of the body to cleanse/detoxify inself sufficiently resulting in negative affects on all health systems. 5) Vitamin and Mineral Deficiencies You've heard the saying that "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". I term the above points as "Therapeutic Eating". Some of the most delicious and satisfying foods will be experienced by complying with the above guidelines, while driving metabolism in the healthy direction, creating optimum intestinal and blood chemistry health, and supporting prevention of bodily dis-ease.
